Origins
Lisa Stoorza

I’ve lived on and off in the Gunnison Valley since 2002, spending most of my time here. As a proud graduate of Western State College with a degree in Biology, I fell in love with this valley and find it hard to leave.

From an early age, I was drawn to wildflowers. My avid hiker parents would take me along on trails, and I’d use flower-spotting as an excuse to pause on the climb. That simple joy turned into a lifelong love for wildflowers—the way they invite you to slow down, notice the small things, and truly breathe.

My art reflects this deep appreciation for the natural world. It’s about being present, finding beauty in the details, and celebrating wild spaces. It’s art that circles back to nature—rounded in the colors, shapes, and quiet moments that remind us to reconnect with the world around us.
I hope my work brings you the same sense of peace and wonder that I feel while creating it.
